ZOLL SHOWCASES SYSTEMS OF CARE AT EMS WORLD EXPO 2018

New Z Vent Transport Ventilator and ZOLL Respond App Debut

OCTOBER 25, 2018—CHELMSFORD, MASS.— ZOLL® Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company that manufactures medical devices and related software solutions, will offer EMS World Expo 2018 attendees the opportunity to experience the company’s portfolio of advanced CPR and acute critical care technologies, along with its integrated data solutions, in booth 601 October 31-November 2 in Nashville at the Music City Center.

Being launched at the show is ZOLL's new Z Vent transport ventilator for pre- and intra-hospital use. Attendees will have the opportunity to take the Z Vent™ Challenge in the EMS World Expo Simulation Laboratory and learn about the benefits of ZOLL’s Smart Help™ technology.

Z Vent delivers a full range of ventilation options and is easy to use. Z Vent removes the complexity associated with many portable ventilators, as Smart Help provides on-screen prompts to quickly guide users through alarm resolution. Designed with a simple Touch, Turn and Confirm interface, Z Vent makes changing settings quick and intuitive.

Also making its debut at EMS World Expo is Respond™, an IOS/Android mobile navigation and communication app that offers EMS dispatchers, crews, and clinical staff at receiving facilities communication options, such as live chat, Push-to-talk, and live streaming video. Respond simplifies the dispatch communication process and eliminates the need for expensive hardware by utilizing mobile app technology.

Both Z Vent and Respond are EMS World Innovation Award Finalists.

Learn how Rialto Fire nearly tripled their SCA survival rate

Rialto, California Fire Chief Sean Grayson will be available in ZOLL’s booth from 11:30 to 3:30 pm on Thursday, November 1 to discuss Rialto Fire’s “Cardiac Arrest Tool Box.” Rialto Fire nearly tripled its sudden cardiac arrest survival rate in just two years by employing the tool box and the pit crew approach.

One-of-a-kind systems of care available from ZOLL at EMS World Expo include:

Pediatric CPR on the X Series

ZOLL’s X Series® is the only monitor/defibrillator on the market that offers pediatric CPR feedback. Recent studies have determined that the quality of CPR in children is poor, with compressions frequently too shallow.1 While many providers are often hesitant to compress to the appropriate depth in pediatric cardiac arrests because they feel they might “hurt” the patient, ZOLL’s real-time pediatric CPR feedback arms providers with the information and confidence necessary to deliver high-quality CPR to pediatric patients.

Resuscitation on the Move

Attendees will have the opportunity to experience moving patients with ongoing mechanical CPR using the AutoPulse® Resuscitation System. Participants will experience how quickly the AutoPulse can be deployed using the new Quick Case, which allows EMS providers to continue providing high-quality CPR while moving patients around tight corners and down steep stairs. Designed for Resuscitation on the Move™, a recent study showed that the AutoPulse had a significant survival benefit compared to manual CPR when resuscitation efforts lasted longer than 16 minutes.2 In a meta-analysis of 12 comparative clinical trials, the AutoPulse improved the odds of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) by 62% when compared to manual CPR.3

ResQCPR System

Also on display is the ResQCPR® System, which utilizes active compression-decompression CPR (ACD-CPR) and an impedance threshold device (ITD) to improve blood flow to vital organs. It increases the likelihood that patients will survive sudden cardiac arrest.4,5 The two-device combination was shown in a large clinical trial to improve survival to one year from out-of-hospital, non-traumatic cardiac arrest by 49% when compared to treatment with conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).5

The RescueNet Journey

The ZOLL RescueNet® Experience shows attendees the journey of patient data from dispatch through discharge. When EMS software solutions are truly integrated, critical incident and patient data follow the patient from dispatch all the way through to post-event billing, saving EMS agencies both time and money. New to our software solutions are ZOLL ePCR and ZOLL Billing. Both cloud-based solutions work together to give a seamless documentation and billing solution without the need for heavy IT resources. Also new is RescueNet BillingPro, which allows agencies to capture more revenue per claim, process clean claims faster, and focus on processes with the greatest return on investment.

555 Fitness Assault on CPR

Using the ZOLL X Series monitor/defibrillator, show attendees will have a chance to test their CPR skills following an intense 1-minute workout on an Assault Air Bike. During 2-minutes of CPR, attendees will have the benefit of Real CPR Help®, ZOLL’s real-time CPR feedback technology. ZOLL’s RescueNet CaseReview software will provide participants with a detailed analysis of their CPR performance. 555 Fitness, a nonprofit whose mission is to help reduce line-of-duty deaths in first responders by promoting a healthier lifestyle, will be in the booth assisting with the challenge.

Volunteer Agency of the Year Award

In keeping with the company’s vision to help improve resuscitation outcomes and pre-hospital care, ZOLL sponsors the Volunteer Agency of the Year Award. This year’s winner will be announced during National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) annual meeting Tuesday, October 30, at 5:30-6:45p.m. Agencies nominated for this award are scored on their advances in EMS education, training at the agency, and community involvement.
