AED Plus Helps Save Cyclist During Ride the Rockies Colorado Bicycle Tour

Ride the Rockies Bicycle Tour

July 5, 2011 - One of the automated external defibrillator (AED) units ZOLL loaned to accompany the 2,000 cyclists participating in the 26th annual Ride the Rockies Bicycle Tour in Colorado June 11-17 helped save a life. A 57-year-old man riding tandem with his 13-year-old daughter experienced sudden cardiac arrest while riding though Cottonwood Pass during the 409-mile event. A medical team arrived within minutes with an AED Plus®. The cyclist received two shocks before being transported to Salina Hospital. He was later transported to Sky Ridge Hospital where he underwent open heart surgery and is now in recovery.
